Having attended Wells Cathedral School, (a specialist music school), followed by five years at the Royal Northern College of Music, I have had many wonderful opportunities to perform some key orchestral repertoire in a variety of different orchestras. Over the years, I have performed in some beautiful venues, including The Bridgewater Hall and Wells Cathedral, and I have worked with renowned conductors including Sir Mark Elder, Ben Glassberg-Frost, Anthony Hermus, Andrew Greenwood and Anu Tali to name a few.

During my time at RNCM, I have performed in the Symphony Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, Wind Orchestra, Brand New Orchestra and Opera Orchestra. Having these opportunities has allowed me to explore a whole scope of repertoire, from classical to contemporary to completely brand new. A particular highlight was performing Mahler’s ‘Symphony No.10 in F# Minor’, in November 2022 – the first symphony orchestra concert of the RNCM 50th Anniversary Year, under the baton of Anthony Hermus. Other highlights include performing Rachmaninov’s ‘Symphonic Dances’ conducted by Sir Mark Elder, Ravel’s ‘Piano Concerto in G Major’ with Anu Tali and Poulenc’s opera ‘Dialogue des Carmélites’ directed by Andrew Greenwood.

During my Masters year, I obtained a position on the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra’s ‘Professional Experience Scheme’. Following a successful audition, I attended rehearsals with the orchestra and worked alongside their Principal Harpist, Clifford Lantaff. The scheme allowed me to rehearse a wide range of repertoire and play under the batons of Sir Andrew Davis, Ludovic Morlot and John Storgårds.

As well as performing in college orchestras, I have also had the experience of performing with ensembles in and around Manchester, including The Hallé, Gorton Philharmonic Orchestra and Slaithwaite Philharmonic.
